LOLOWEENY STAGE (Nu'uanu Ave / Chaplain Ln) • 6:25PM - 7:15PM
Taimane and her quartet return to Hallowbaloo ready to celebrate the release of her new album and signature ukulele and revel in Halloween euphoria.
Taimane will host a Meet and Greet immediately after her Hallowbaloo performance at the entrance of The Arts at Marks Garage with her new album, HAWAIKI, and additional merchandise available.
Virtuoso, songwriter and 2019 Nā Hōkū Hanohano Favorite Entertainer of the Year, Taimane, is best known for her fierce and inventive style of playing the ukulele helping the hapa Samoan (part caucasian and part indigenous Samoan) artist garner over 50 million video views and nearly 500,000 social media followers to date. Hailing from a musical Polynesian family including her late mother, Palepa Tauiliili Gardner (Miss Samoa 1978), Taimane’s attraction to the four-string island staple began at age 5. By age 10, she regularly performed in public, busking in Waikiki every Friday night with her father holding down security duties and Waikiki Beach Boys (adults whose home & workplace was the beach) serving as her band. By age 13, Taimane landed a position in Don Ho’s show literally playing in the spotlight every week until Ho’s passing. Fast forward to today, and you have an artist who sells out concerts around the world and has carved out a unique niche in music – merging a wide-array of genres, from Bach to rock, flamenco infernos to tribal hymns, summoning a seemingly limitless palette of emotions via an instrument previously viewed as restricted.
"I didn’t see anyone at the [SXSW 2019] festival doing anything close to what she [Taimane] does on stage. She shreds on ukulele and rocks everything from Beethoven to Led Zeppelin. Somehow she manages to not only rock out but connect the audience with meaningful Hawaiian traditions and dances." - Austin American-Statesman

We feel soooooo *lucky* to welcome dj mr.nick back to Hallowbaloo, a festival stalwart and one of the most inspiring and creative party starters in the islands.
dj mr.nick (aka Nick Yee) has already left an indelible mark on the Hawaii music scene...and he's just getting started. As a live DJ, he's championed music that has not only bangin' beats but also hypnotic melodies with an entire scene forming around this stellar style of DJing. As a Hawaii radio host for nearly two decades, dj mr.nick has helped create a cultural shift, changing not only the sounds of fringe listeners but also mainstreaming appreciation of a massively broad palette of music. As the new Program Director of Hawaii Public Radio, Nick Yee has made clear his talents go beyond the DJ booth, altering HPR's lineup in a manner that is subtle enough to keep forever listeners happy, yet bold enough to demonstrate that scintillating content will be broadcast across Hawaii's airwaves for many years to come.

DJ ANIT
DJ STAGE w/MICAH BANKS (Hotel St / Smith St) • 8:30PM - 9:55PM
Tina Viernes, known around town as DJ Anit, is one of Hawaii's most highly regarded DJs. Currently a resident DJ at Addiction, one of Hawaii's premier night clubs, Tina has been gaining fast popularity on the west coast as well as overseas with her uncanny ability to read the audience and get the party started. Spinning a wide variety of music including electro, dance, house, mash-ups, R&B, hip hop, and live mixes, it is obvious that Tina has a deep appreciation for all genres of music and an unsurpassed level of enthusiasm for what she does.
Tina started her career as a teenager, surprising the industry with her ability on the turntables at local DJ battles. Determined to make a name for herself, she entered the 2002 DMC Battle and was awarded second place. Shortly after that, she was able to land gigs at some of the most popular night clubs in Hawaii. Over the years at these night clubs, Tina has opened for renowned Los Angeles and Las Vegas DJs who have traveled to Hawaii to perform, including: Vice, Sid Vicious, Spider, Devin Lucien, Ruckus, Cobra, Steve Aoki, Kill The Noise, and Felix Cartal.
Tina has had the opportunity to share her talents on the west coast in the Bay Area (Infusion Lounge, Temple, Cellar, Club Six, Poleng, Sabor, Sloane, Fluid, and Taste) as well as in Los Angeles (AV Nightclub, Les Deux, Hyde, and 24k). She has also landed gigs in San Diego (House of Blues, Thin Onyx, and Confidential) and in Las Vegas at Prive. Tina has also been invited to travel overseas to Singapore and the Philippines. In June 2014, she opened up the BET (Black Entertainment Television) Awards with Pharrell Williams. She has also opened concerts for: Big Sean, 2 Chainz, YG, Kid Ink, Kendrick Lamar, Dilated Peoples and Run DMC. She has spun at a number of after parties for some of the music industry's elite, including: Toni Braxton, Jon B, Nas, Dilated Peoples, Busta Rhymes, Erykah Badu, Nicole Scherzinger, Bubba Sparxxx, LMFAO, Run DMC, and Bruno Mars. Aside from the impressive resume Tina has built for herself, it is a small marvel to watch her spin live in any environment, to watch her instantly build rapport with her audience and transform any event into a remarkable experience. If you're not able to catch her live at downtown's Manifest or at Addiction in Waikiki, Tina's mixes can also be heard on 102.7 Da Bomb on the weekends.
