The women of Shakti Dance Movement bring their fluid and exotic dance performances to Hallowbaloo, promising festival goers a mesmerizing spectacle of the art of belly dance. The collective has been performing since 2004. The movement began with Kalae Kaina, who has over 15 years of experience in the ancient dance form. Shakti Dance Movement has been a regular, featured group at the annual Tribal Fest, the largest belly dance festival in the world.
As a collective, Shakti Dance Movement not only performs, but offers classes, workshops, and private lessons. Their dedication and passion for their art inspires them to share their knowledge and spirit, and they have worked with other highly respected dance companies, including the Tau Dance Theater, Giinko Maraschino & Coco Chandelier, and the Cherry Blossom Cabaret, to the enrichment of Honolulu’s dance community.
Shatki Dance Movement’s talent, experience and true love for the art of belly dance brilliantly beams forth at every performance. We are ecstatic to have them deliver the closing performance on this year’s Dance Cauldron Stage (9:40pm-10pm when the street festival wraps) and launch us into Club Hallowbaloo 2013 and the euphoric dancing that will surely ensue.
