Those in Hawaii may be quite familiar with the name Koga. If you were thinking about the legendary contemporary artist John Koga, you are correct in the connection. However, John Koga’s 16-year-old son, Mark, has been forging his own artistic path for many years. Some may recall seeing a young boy with a shock of black hair skulking around live music and art venues, only to jump on stage later in the night and wow people with his then pint-sized power. Now in full swing in his teen years, Mark leads his own band, KOGA. He plays alternative music with original lyrics on lead vocals and guitar. Veteran local musicians Josh86 and Brian Kim from Black Square and many other loved Honolulu-based punk-rooted bands accompany Mark on bass and drums. Having already played big events such as Miss Teen Hawaii USA 2011, KOGA should work Hallowbaloo like a band that plays stadium rock every night.
